Trapeze Music releases definitive personal anthology by legendary UK guitarist Gordon Giltrap

Trapeze Music & Entertainment has collaborated with the top acoustic and progressive rock guitarist Gordon Giltrap to produce a definitive 4-CD set of tracks drawn from his catalogue of albums recorded over the last forty years. Entitled “Time to Reflect: A Personal Anthiology”, it was compiled by Gordon himself, who has also written track-by-track booklet notes describing the background to the songs and his recollections of their provenance.

Gordon came to prominence during the 1960s when he started performing on the London folk scene alongside artists like Bert Jansch and John Renbourn – Giltrap cites Bert Jansch as a particular inspiration for him over the years, and he was, like Jansch, with Transatlantic Records during the early years of his career. Moving towards progressive rock during the ‘70s, he also embraced the world of TV and film music, and had his most high-profile success with “Heartsong”, which was used as the theme for BBC TV’s “Holiday” programme and was a No. 21 hit in 1978.  A number of other recordings included in this collection were also as title music for popular TV shows.

He is a highly respected solo performer on all styles of electric and acoustic guitar, touring regularly, as well as recording with other top artists, including Brian May and Rick Wakeman. In 2009 Gordon formed the trio “3 Parts Guitar” with classical guitarist Raymond Burley and the jazz rock guitarist John Etheridge. This eventually became 4 Parts guitar with the addition of Clive Carroll.

As well as “Heartsong” from “Perilous Journey”, this collection comprises re-mastered tracks from his albums “Drifter”, “Under This Blue Sky”, “Elegy”, Janschology” and “Music For The Small Screen”.

Gordon said of the project: “It’s been a real pleasure putting this collection together, revisiting many recordings I haven’t listened to in a long while and recalling how they came together and what was behind them. It was a wonderful opportunity to dig deep into the past and share some of those memories.”
