Carrie Martin is a British acoustic guitarist, singer and songwriter from Hull in Yorkshire. She played guitar from an early age, taught by her father, and has been writing songs since her early teens, as well as singing with a local rock band. Having largely given up music to raise a family during the 1990s, she has returned to writing, playing, singing and performing in recent years, inspired and encouraged by the noted acoustic guitarist Gordon Giltrap – she cited her meeting Gordon as the most important thing that has happened to her in her musical career. Her guitar playing has attracted sufficient attention for her to be recruited as an endorsee by Vintage guitars, whose guitars she has played for many years. Influenced by the likes of Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson from Heart, her writing and performing style nevertheless defies categorisation, as evidenced by her self-released 2012 debut album “Luna” which was well-reviewed in Acoustic magazine, and on this, her debut album. The recordings on the album feature Carrie on guitar and vocals, accompanied on various tracks not only by Gordon Giltrap, who also contributes a song to the album, but also Oliver Wakeman, Ric Sanders and others. She performs regularly in the UK at clubs, festivals and on local radio, and will be promoting this release with regular gigs during the summer and autumn.
