The R&B Years Vol. 2
Various Artists
Styles: R&B
Catalogue Number: ACRCD137
The descriptive term R & B standing for Rhythm And Blues was coined by the American magazine Billboard in the late 40?s to recognise the form of music taking hold with Black buyers across the States. As the cost of Big Bands spiralled musicians spun off into smaller units emphasising vocals and saxophones to propel the hard driving dance rhythms popular with post-war audiences. This specially compiled compilation features the earliest recordings of the style featuring such pioneers as Louis Jordan, Ella Fitzgerald and many others designed to present the music?s development and greatest hits to a new audience. |
